The West Farm Arts name:
My grandfather, a blacksmith from Romania, started "West Farms Ironworks" on West Farms Road in the Bronx (NYC) in the late1920s. He and a small crew fabricated and installed staircases, railings and other Iron and steel building elements. He handed over stewardship of the business to my father in the late '50s, but stayed on for many years as shop foreman.

The '70 were difficult years for small Iron shops in the New York area; the twin pressures of overseas competition and union demands caused most to fold or move south. My father was in the process of closing down the business in the mid 80's when I was starting my freelance graphics business. I became West Farm Graphics.
